Rail is used to move 40 per cent of shipping containers from Port Botany wharf stacking area to the eight-hectare Intermodal Logistics Centre in Sydney. It was designed to reduce road freight congestion in the Port Botany area and resultant carbon emissions.
°µÍø¸£Àû developed an asphalt mix using special polymers, aggregates and recycled asphalt pavement to achieve stringent rut resistance criteria. The pavement was developed to withstand a 100-tonne reach stacker moving 40-tonne shipping containers.
°µÍø¸£Àû manufactured and paved the heavy-duty asphalt to provide a level surface with no undulations that could cause rainwater ponding. It also provided resistance to fuel spills.
The project was completed in September 2013
