°µÍø¸£Àû Asphalt South Australia won the first Civil Construction Industry Earth Award for the ‘The Little Para Shared Path – Recycled Glass Trial Project’ completed in partnership with the City of Salisbury. 

A path, two kilometers in length and three-metres wide was constructed through pristine parklands using three different combinations of recycled materials including RAP, The glass used was sourced from roadside waste in Salisbury, processed at its North Adelaide Waste Management Authority facility and crushed to sand size at the local °µÍø¸£Àû Quarry. 

Working closely with Council, °µÍø¸£Àû Quarries and subcontractors, the challenges of the project were met through an integrated collaboration. Together, they created an aesthetically pleasing environmentally friendly product, and the project was delivered on time, on budget and to a high quality standard. 

An exemplary asset with exceptional performance has been delivered in sympathy with a sensitive environment through commitment and solidarity by all partners. The outcome shows that local recycled materials can serve the community in successful ways as well as reduce kerbside waste sent to landfill. Recycled glass in asphalt has been proven to be a viable product that can be provided for future projects.
