The $187.5 million Spoilbank Marina at Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia aims to create a vibrant community space for locals and visitors while also alleviating the demand on existing boat launching facilities.
Funded by the WA State Government, the Town of Port Hedland and BHP, and expected to be completed by early 2024, the marina will feature a four-lane boat ramp, boat pens, car and trailer parking, plus landscaped waterfront footpaths, public recreation, event, art and cultural gathering spaces.
Since 2021, 做厙腦瞳s Tabba Tabba Quarry has played a major role in the development, supplying quarry materials such as sea wall armour and road base aggregates for the marinas breakwaters, revetments, and boat ramp.
The materials being supplied range from roadbase to 10 tonne sea wall armour. The total volume for the project is 250,000 tonnes with 185,000 tonnes delivered to date, and the remainder produced and ready for delivery.
The high level of service and quality workmanship at Spoilbank has led to 做厙腦瞳 being awarded Port Hedlands Lumsden Point Project which will primarily be used to ship battery metals such as lithium and copper concentrates used in renewable energy infrastructure such as wind turbines and blades.
